Ruby H. Narron
In Honor of
Ruby H. Narron

Ruby H. Narron is a Johnston County native, born on June 26, 1935. She was born the fourth daughter of Ramie Vernon and Flora Stallings Hicks. She was brought up in the Corbett-Hatcher Community, where she attended first grade. After her first year at Corbett-Hatcher, the school closed and the students were transferred to Selma High School. After high school, she attended Wilson Technical Institute and workshops sponsored by Johnston Community College.

In 1984, she received a Professional Standard's Certificate. This is a professional educational growth program sponsored by the NCAEOP. Ruby is married to Kelly Narron and resides in the Moore Chapel Community. They were blessed with two daughters, Joy and Jeanne. Joy is married to Dr. Peter Jacobson and resides in Virginia Beach. Jeanne is married to Lewis Lamm and resides in Wilson. Two grandsons, Charles and Barrett Jacobson, are the sunshine of her life.

Her thirty-year career as a Secretary-Treasurer began in 1965 at Glendale-Chapel School. The late W.C. Fitzgerald was the principal at the time. In 1986, Glendale-Chapel and Kenly School consolidated and she began work at the newly consolidated school called Glendale-Kenly School with Melvin Woodard as principal. In 1993, she became Administrative Assistant at Selma Middle School, where she remained until she retired in 1995. She is a member of the NCAEOP and JCAEOP. She served as the JCAEOP president in 1974. Ruby is an active member of the Moores Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she has served as Woman's Ministries President, Deaconess, Sunday School teacher and pianist. She is presently involved in a visitation ministry that involves patients at nursing homes and has a monthly prayer meeting at her home.

Her hobbies include gardening (herbs and flowers), reading, playing the piano, occasionally working at Maude's Flower Shop, and traveling to Virginia Beach. When asked about her retirement, her reply is "It's wonderful! Everyone should try it." She really enjoys the solitude of her home. Ruby Narron is a most gentile lady, spreading love, kindness, and genuine Christian concern for all those fortunate people within her realm
