Bunn-Starling Family Tradition

A Family Tradition

In early 1900's Rufus Starling farmed tobacco in Johnston County. Percy Starling began his tobacco farming career with his father in 1925. After military service in 1945, he continued farming with his father-in-law James R. Bunn, who farmed in Wilson and Johnston Counties from the early 1900's. Percy Starling farmed for the next thirty-six years, beginning with mule and plow and progressing to bulk barns and harvesters by 1981 when he retired.

Gerald Starling returned to the farm in 1975 and continues the tobacco farming heritage begun by his grandfathers.
