Corbett, Julius David

Julius Corbett was a native of Johnston County, and was active in both the Kenly community and the county. He served on the Johnston County School Board and served as Mayor of Kenly for several years.

Mr. Corbett worked 40 years at Watson Hardware and Oil Company in Kenly. He retired on January 1, 1976.

Mr. Corbett was active in the Kenly Kiwanis Club, the Kenly Masonic Lodge, the Kenly Fire Department and the Kenly Public Library.

He was a charter member of the Kenly Kiwanis Club and was a past chairman of the Boys and Girls Committee. He was past president of the club and was named the club's Kiwanian of the Year. He also was a charter member of the Kenly Volunteer Fire Department.

He was a Mason for 36 years and served as Master of the Kenly Lodge in 1970, 1980, and 1981. He was active in building the Lodge's current building.

Mr. Corbett was very dedicated to the people of the community and always worked in a positive way to get things accomplished.

Julius Corbett was married to the former Grace Watson, and had a son, Dr. J. D. Corbett of Wilson and a daughter, Pat C. MaKenzie of Charlotte. He also had one grandson and two granddaughters.
