Hooks, Katie McNeill

June 1, 1878 - December 21, 1940

Katie McNeill Hooks was the daughter of the late John K. and Lucy Swindell McNeill. She went to Pikeville in Wayne County to become the town's music teacher. She and Walter J. Hooks were married in the early 1900's in La Grange, NC. She was known as "Miss Katie" at the Kenly Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir until a year before she died. She was firm about her Presbyterian faith. After Mr. Hooks died she continued to live in Kenly with her children until her death.
