Scott, Alice

Alice Honeycutt Scott, born and raised in Wilson County, is Executive Secretary and Co-Owner of Scott Farms, Inc. in Lucama, NC. Together with her husband, Linwood “Sonny” Scott, and sons, Linwood and Dewey, Alice has helped build and expand the sixth-generation family farming operation which grows corn, wheat, soybeans, tobacco, and sweet potatoes.

A member of Marsh Swamp Freewill Baptist Church, Alice dedicates many hours of service to her community through her work with several boards and service organizations. Working for the betterment of higher education, Alice serves as trustee for Wilson Community College and advisory board member for the University of Mount Olive. She is also a strong advocate for the farms and farmers of North Carolina. In 2018, Alice was named the first woman North Carolina Farm Service Agency State Committee Chairperson in history. Her work with the Wilson County Fair Board and as past president of the Wilson County Humane Society are things Alice also holds dear.

Alice and her family were recently honored with the NC Exporter of the Year Award, Award of Excellence for Migrant and Labor Housing by the NC Department of Labor, the Produce Business Marketing Excellence Award and Telly Award for Innovation in Agriculture, and many others.

This page was given by the Tobacco Farm Life Museum Board of Directors in honor of Ms. Scott receiving the 2020 Excellence in Agriculture award.
