She was selected for the All-County Girls' Basketball Team in 1936 and 1937, and for the 1937 Johnston County All-Tournament Girls' Team when Micro was crowned champion of the countywide 4-H basketball tournament. Mozelle graduated from Micro High School in 1937 and attended King's Business School in Raleigh in 1939; while there, met Hubert Scott, a North Carolina State College student; they married May 9, 1942. She worked five years with the State Hospital Association, an insurance company in Tarboro, then the family moved to Wayne County to farm with her father-in-law, Frank W. Scott.
Mozelle is an active member of the Kenly Free Will Baptist Church. She is also involved in many community organizations. She is a charter member of the St. Mary's Extension Homemakers Club and served as the first president of the club from 1949 to 1951. She is also a charter member of the Polly Watson Volunteer Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary. Mozelle was a classroom grade mother and member of the PTA while her children were in school; also served as secretary of the PTA. Hobbies or Interests include gardening; needlework; sewing and reading.

In 1999 a classroom was named in honor of the Hubert & Mozelle Scott Family for their support of educational innovation in health science management, human services counseling, and courses in business administration, criminal justice and English communication. In 2004 her children established the "Hubert & Mozelle Scott Scholarship in Agribusiness" at Mount Olive College.
