Marie B. Williamson was born to Mallie and Lizzie Barnes of Wilson where she was born and raised. Marie attended Atlantic Christian College and later worked for Seymore Johnson Federal Reserve Bank. Marie married Dick Williamson November 10, 1947. They had three children Robin Hompie, Hela Knowlton and Georgette Gray. Their grandchildren are Aley Knowlton and Matt Knowlton. Mrs. Williamson is known for her dedicated work as a Girl Scout Leader and sewing instructor and for her love for gardening. She had “2 green thumbs.” The Williamson’s moved to Massachusetts for twenty years, returning to North Carolina in 1992.
